Writers’ letters scream political panic

Reader Input

For a learned and accomplished man, Mr. Dale Smith’s recent letter to the Auburn Journal (“Impeach Barack Obama now,” Reader Input, Aug. 9) smacks of political panic and a frantic home-stretch attempt to rescue a failing campaign.
Obviously Mr. Romney has a problem rallying the troops and is not the heart-felt choice of the tea party or even some traditional Republicans!
The emotional hyperbole spewing out of the “Impeach Barack Obama now” letter is full of assumptions, opinions and marginal right-wing attitudes that are half-truths designed to attract an emotional response from the electorate.
Mr. Smith knows that none of his vitriol constitutes high crimes or misdemeanors and is merely a plea to motivate and prop up supporters.
By the way, Mr. Bob Velons’ attempt at “birther control” (“Obama on ballot illegally,” Reader Input, Aug. 10) is weak considering that Hawaii’s health director, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, reviewed the president’s birth certificate on July 27, 2009 and personally verified that “he was born in Hawaii and is a natural born citizen.” End of argument.
