Wrong to dilute past sacrifice

Re: the March 23 letter to the editor, “March 21 ‘new Day of Infamy.’” The writer, by comparing the passage of the health care reform bill to the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor, has, knowingly or not, belittled the sacrifices made by those who died in that attack. The outrageous comparisons of the president to the likes of Hitler, Stalin and Mao (seen on many Tea Party signs), have likewise belittled the sacrifices made by the victims of those dictatorial regimes. This over-the-top rhetoric shows just how desperate the right has become. The irony of Mr. David Imgrund’s letter is that he probably considers himself a patriot, despite throwing a slap to the face of true victims of tyranny. Steve Rigney, Foresthill
