WWII ended in August 1945

I respectfully disagree with my good friend, George Costanich, that Sept. 3 be remembered (Reader Input, Sept. 8). Aug. 6, 9 and 15 are the critical dates. On Aug. 6, 1945, the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. On Aug. 9, 1945, the bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. On Aug. 15, 1945, the Japanese surrendered. These were the critical dates. Sept. 3, 1945 was ceremonial fluff. George is correct in his letter of Sept. 8. Americans should remember and celebrate VJ Day. DAN SOKOL, Auburn
