All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 in the greater Auburn area are invited to participate in the Knights of Columbus Basketball Free Throw Contest on Sunday, Feb. 10 at the St. Teresa of Avila Parish Hall.

Boys and girls will compete separately in five different age groups with ten eventual champions to be crowed at the hall, 11610 Atwood Road.

Winners are eligible to advance to the district, chapter and state championships.  Conveniently, the district competition will take place immediately after the conclusion of this contest with local champions competing against the champions of other contests previously held in Lincoln, Grass Valley and Colfax.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. on the day of the event, with the competition set to start at noon.

This is a free event. Contestants must be at least 10 years old as of Jan. 1, 2013.  A copy of the contestant’s birth certificate to verify age, and parental consent on the registration sheet are required. Ten- and 11-year-old competitors will shoot from a distance of 12 feet, while the older competitors shoot from the standard free-throw distance of 15 feet.

Additional information on the contest can be obtained by calling John Sheehan at (916) 645-3737.
