Youth wrestling sign-ups Wednesday

Sign-ups continue Wednesday for Placer Olympic Wrestling Club’s approaching youth season at E.V. Cain’s main gymnasium from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The club, for youth wrestlers age 4 to 14, kicks off its practice season March 9. The first tournament is slated for March 27. Club fees, which include a t-shirt and shorts, are $25. Athletes will need a $40 USA Wrestling Card to compete in tournaments. Contact coach Rob Nebeker at (530) 305-0717 for more information. Soccer referee clinic continues The 49er Youth Soccer League is hosting an entry-level referee clinic this week and next. The clinic runs Wednesday and next Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Auburn Youth Soccer Club office. BRRPD basketball tournaments The Bear River Recreation & Parks District will host its second annual end-of-the-season tournament and is inviting teams from ARD and other adjoining leagues to participate. The five-on-five tournament for girls and boys grades four through eight will be held March 13 and 14 and will schedule around any existing games from other recreation leagues. A minimum of three games are guaranteed and there will be individual awards for winners in each category. Games will be played at Magnolia School, near Bear River High. The cost is $100 per team. To sign up or get more information, visit www.brrpd.org. 49er United tryouts loom 49er United Soccer Club will hold tryouts March 6 and 7 for all U9 through U14 girls and boys at Railhead Park in Auburn. Parents must register their kids online at 49erunitedsoccer.com, or must accompany their player to sign the necessary consent and medical authorization as required by CYSA. Players should bring shin guards, shoes, a ball and a water bottle. Visit the Web site for a schedule of tryout times. Scouts host golf tournament Loomis Boy Scout Troop 12 will hold a golf tournament on May 8 at Lincoln Hills Golf Club to raise money for troop events, including a camping and canoe trip to Alaska and a trip to Washington, D.C.
