Bring on the Snow
Photos by Ashley Baer/Auburn Journal

Winter has finally shown up.

Rain and snow pelted Auburn and surrounding areas Sunday, with the storm continuing through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Driving along Interstate 80, the snow started to stick around Applegate, where some took advantage of the weather to experience a Christmas tradition in the snow: the cutting of the tree.

Natomas residents Earl Wright, Nichol Leonardo and their daughter Jessica Leonardo went to two different Christmas tree farms before coming to the one on Red Feather Road in Applegate on Sunday.

"I wanted to find a bargain," said Leonardo. "It turned out to be a total experience, with the face painting and the apple cider. We wanted to see snow."

The Applegate area is expected to get between one and three inches Sunday night, and Auburn can expect the rain to continue, with a chance of snow on Monday.
