The Placer High wrestling team turned in a solid fifth place finish at the Hiram Johnson tournament Friday in a final tune up for the Pioneer Valley League season.

Sophomore Joe Thornton took third place at 125, junior Mitchell Maddox placed third at 130 and junior Carl Pavich was third at 135 to pace the Hillmen. Tyler Hickman was fifth at 171 and Andrew Naleway took sixth at 119 for Placer.

In junior varsity action, Zach Scott had a first-place showing while Brandon Rinaldo, Cameron Southward and Regan Carp all earned silver medals for the Hillmen on Saturday.
