We need to be fair to the bicycle people. We need to show them compassion. We need to share the roads (“Campaign ‘pedals’ safety,” Journal, Aug. 14).

They, in turn, need to get a California Bicycle License (CBL), bicycle registration and bicycle insurance. With the monies generated with licenses and registrations, we will be able to improve the bike lanes.

We can set up BUI check points, speed traps, proof of insurance check points. We can let the kiddies ride free up until they turn 18. It is only right that if everybody wants to share the road the rules should be the same. Once everybody is on the same page, think how nice it will be to be able to drive in the bike lanes.
