Wildfires doused in opener

The Foresthill High football team opened the season Friday night with a 64-7 loss to visiting Brookside Christian. The Knights rolled up more than 700 yards of offense against the Wildfires. Brookside led 26-0 after the first quarter. Foresthill found the end zone in the second quarter, but the Knights tacked on three more scores before halftime to put the game out of reach. Foresthill will hit the road next Friday, visiting Delhi.
Amador 27, Golden Sierra 7 at Garden Valley — The Grizzlies fell in their season opener as the Buffaloes stampeded on the home team’s new turf field. Golden Sierra is back in action at Argonaut next week, starting a stretch of four straight road games.
