Important To Thank Recommenders
For college-bound students, it is important to thank the people who write recommendations on your behalf. Not only is it common courtesy, but it shows you care enough about them to give a quick THANK YOU. Also, let them know when you are accepted to a college or university because they are genuinely interested in your success.
Equally important, being courteous and keeping your recommenders informed about your progress with the application process allows you to stay connected with them. As a result, when you ask for ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS in the spring semester for scholarship applications, they will be happy to help you; this is because they feel like they are part of your success and not just used for their willingness to write recommendations.
Therefore, recognize your teachers and counselor(s) are not just educators; they are people who appreciate feedback and a show of thanks. Make the effort to be courteous and secure them for recommendations you will need in the future.
