Hillmen wrestlers finish off three-peat
The Placer High wrestling team wrapped up its third straight Pioneer Valley League title Tuesday by cruising past Mesa Verde 60-21. Zach Uvalle (112 pounds), Dalton Richardson (125), Mitchell Maddox (130), Aaron Maddox (152), Jake Lewis (189) and Jake Styler (heavyweight) all pinned their opponents Tuesday at Earl Crabbe Gym. Andrew Naleway (119), Carl Pavich (135), Joe Thornton (140) and Tony Suverkropp (145) picked up wins via forfeit for the Hillmen. Placer will compete in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV Team Championships on Saturday at Rosemont High in Sacramento. Del Oro 50, Woodcreek 21 at Roseville — The Golden Eagles claimed their fifth straight Sierra Foothill League championship with an impressive performance on the road. Del Oro won every match from 135 pounds and up to imrpve to 6-0 in the SFL and win its 30th straight league mach. Jake Uhler (171), Eddie Love (189), Austen Harbart (215) and Shane Plummer (HW) won by pin to start the match for Del Oro. Woodcreek reeled off five straight victories to make things interesting before the Eagles took control. Dylan Blomgren (140), Foster Fretland (152) and Jesse Stafford (160) added pins for Del Oro while Austin Branum (135) and Kevin Burrage (145) won major decisions. Del Oro will be one of the top two seeds at Saturday’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Team Championships at Rosemont.
