Many Auburn-area residents might recognize Mullins as the former longtime general manager of Auburn Honda. Mullins now lives in McCloud, near Mount Shasta ski resort, where he is the marketing director. Mullins and Mount Shasta treated Auburn-area ski and snowboard teams to a well-organized four-day state championship skiing and snowboarding competition with more than 40 high schools and 320 athletes participating. Mullins also put on a rail jam in a downtown Mount Shasta shopping center parking lot that hundreds attended. Colfax High and Placer High athletes were among the competitors who wowed the crowd with 360-degree spins off a 25-foot snow-covered ramp that led to big jumps, which landed onto an iron railroad tie and steel box. “Big Jim and Mount Shasta treated us extremely well,” Faulkner said.
