We have recently become aware of Proposition 16 that we will be voting on in June.

This initiative requires that the voter be asked to approve local government using public funds or bonds to get into the retail electricity business.

It also establishes a two-thirds requirement for this voter approval, which is the same standard already used for other special taxes and borrowing measures.

We believe that the voter should be asked before our public funds are used by local governments to expand retail electric delivery service and encourage a yes vote on Proposition 16, the Taxpayers Right to Vote Act.
