Bear River baseball team
goes unbeaten at tourney
HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP
OROVILLE — Due to rainouts on Friday, the Bear River High baseball team had to play three games Saturday at the Oroville Tournament. The Bruins won all three, beating Enterprise twice by scores of 4-1 and 15-0 before beating Wheatland 5-1 to finish its tournament bracket undefeated. Pitcher Ryan Sawyer earned the win in the first game against Enterprise, striking out five in four innings before fellow senior Morgan Juric struck out three in three solid innings of relief. Juric started the second game against Enterprise and fanned four more batters before junior right-hander Michael Lewis came in and finished off the shutout. Junior right-hander Coleman Huntley picked up the victory against Wheatland, striking out six batters in five innings. Offensively, the Bruins (4-0) were led by a trio of seniors who each went 2-for-4: Catcher Brandon Fry homered and tripled, center fielder Cole White doubled and first baseman Jordan Beskeen had an RBI. Bear River will play its home opener today against Galt.
