Cooper Johnson tossed five innings of two-hit ball and Del Oro High’s bats erupted for 10 late runs in a 11-0 rout of Pitman Wednesday afternoon in Loomis.
Johnson struck out three and walked one to get the win before Cole Perez closed it out with one shutout inning.
Max Mableby was a force at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs. Cody Wyatt was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Jesse Lang finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Del Oro (2-1-1) pounded out 11 hits.
Oakmont 12, Bear River 11 at Lake of the Pines — The Bruins turned a blowout into a one-run game with a furious rally late in the game.
Bear River (4-2) trailed 12-1 heading into the bottom half of the fifth inning before putting up eight runs. The Bruins added two more in the fifth before the Vikings finally closed it out.
Seniors A.J. Blashford and Andy Brooding knocked in two runs apiece for Bear River. Morgan Juric, Cole White, Brandon Fry, Jordan Beskeen and Shawn Smith had singles.
Coleman Huntley pitched four solid innings with eight strikeouts after relieving Ryan Sawyer.
