Laura Nash scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Lianna Moneypenny 10 minutes into the second half and the Placer High girls soccer team added another late goal to beat visiting El Dorado 3-1 Wednesday afternoon.
Molly Barrett scored on an assist from Shandra Barrera in the first half. Nash broke a 1-1 halftime tie and Stephanie Bonitata scored the clincher on an assist from Karly Kenworthy with 12 minutes left.
Kenworthy, Brooke Bendorf, Kayla Lipsmeyer and Caitlin Letcher anchored the defensive effort.
The Hillgals (5-2-1, 2-0 Pioneer Valley League) open action at the Foothill Tournament against River City on Friday at 10 a.m. before taking on Staff later in the afternoon.
Bear River 2, Lincoln 1 at Lincoln — Bree Rogers scored on a 30-yard free kick with 15 minutes left to lead the Bruins to victory on the road Wednesday.
The Zebras struck first before Janelle Jensen evened the score heading into intermission.
