Placer football pancake breakfast Saturday

The Placer High football program will host its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday at the school’s cafeteria.
The event will run from 7 to 11 a.m. and precede the Le Febvre Relays track meet at Placer. Cost is $5 and all proceeds will benefit the Placer football program.

Softball tournaments coming up
Motherlode Softball Club will host a pair of tournaments later this spring. Chris’ Birthday Bash will be held March 27-28 at Regional Park in Auburn and the Spring Training Classic VII is slated for April 10-11 at Fair Oaks Park.
At Chris’ Birthday Bash, there will be a men’s tournament March 27, open to E-comp and E level teams as well as a women’s tournament for D level teams and below. On March 28 there will be a coed tournament.
Registration fee is $250 per team plus a $25 USSSA egistration fee. Registration is available at www.playutrip.com or by e-mailing Chris Stamps at www.cstampsmlsb11@hotmail.com.

Run Rocklin to benefit Matt Redding Foundation
The seventh annual Run Rocklin will be held April 18 at Springview Park in Rocklin. The main event is a 12-kilometer run beginning at 8 a.m. There is a 5K run/walk at 8:15 and a free quarter-mile run for kids at 7:45 a.m. There is also a free 1-mile run for kids at 9:30.
The event will raise funds for the Matt Redding Foundation. Redding was a popular Rocklin police officer who died while on duty in 2005.

Placer softball clinic Saturday
The Placer High softball team will hold its annual youth clinic on Saturday at Skyridge Elementary School.
Registration begins at noon and the clinic will run from 12:30 p.m. to 4. The clinic is for youth ages 6 to 13 but all ages are welcome.
Players will be grouped by ages and rotate through a series of stations designed to teach various softball skills through drills and games. There will also be specialized instruction for pitchers and catchers.
Placer’s players and coaches will serve as the instructors at the clinic. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and proceeds will go toward the softball program.

Loomis Boy Scouts hosting golf tourney
Loomis Boy Scout Troop 12 will hold a golf tournament on May 8 at Lincoln Hills Golf Club to raise money for troop events, including a camping and canoe trip to Alaska and a trip to Washington, D.C. The tournament entry fee is $100 per golfer.

Sierra Foothills 5K/10K Run set for May
The third annual Sierra Foothills 5k/10k Run will be held May 15 at Colfax High School. The run benefits the Colfax track and cross country programs.
