Tots take away honors for best costumes at fest
More than 70 youngsters participated in the costume contest and parade during Saturday's Auburn Community Festival. Those seeking Halloween advice might do well to talk to the 16 winners. In the 0-4 age range, C.J. Malone won for most original, D.J. Hanaway was voted scariest, Paige Bass-Walters won for the prettiest costume, and Matthew Gold was voted funniest costume. Joely Powell won most-original in the age 5-9 category, with Raine Brackett awarded prettiest costume, Deandre Scott was voted scariest and Johnathan Rutz won for funniest costume. Winners in the age 10-14 group were Courtney Hanaway for funniest costume, Emily Powell for originality, Buck Cain for prettiest and Anastasia Rutz for originality. The 15-and-above age group winners include Alexia Retallack for prettiest, Erin Harker for originality, Tabatha Yates for scariest and Cathy & Jane Powell for funniest costumes. -- Loryll Nicolaisen
