Bear River falls at home
The Christian Brothers girls basketball team outscored Bear River 18-4 in the third quarter as Bear River dropped its second consecutive game to open the season Tuesday night at home. The Bruins led 31-28 at halftime but Christian Brothers capitalized on turnovers to seize the lead and hang on to a 58-50 victory. Annie Osterholt scored 14 and added 11 rebounds to lead Bear River, which cut the deficit to as few as four points late in the fourth quarter. Tanya Copeland had 10 points and seven rebounds and Chandré Uno scored nine. Jocelyn Fry had five steals and four rebounds. The Bruins host Rio Americano Friday. In junior varsity action, Christian Brothers beat Bear River 49-27 despite an eight-point effort by Lindsey Harter. The freshmen Bruins beat the Falcons 35-26 behind nine points from Cassidy Best.
