Bruins to play for consolation title

The Bear River High girls basketball team landed a spot in Monday's consolation final in their bracket at the West Coast Jamboree with a 41-30 victory over Rincon Valley Christian in Brentwood Saturday.

Tanya Copeland poured in 20 points and Chandre Uno added 10 as the Bruins led from the outset. Annie Osterholt hauled in nine rebounds and had five steals for Bear River (7-6). Copeland added seven steals and Uno had five thefts.

On Friday, Bear River defeated Valley of Elk Grove 48-39, led by 12 points from Melanie Fry. The Bruins used a third-quarter spurt to pull away. Uno scored 10 points and Talore Spencer tossed in eight. Jocelyn Fry and Osterholt had 11 rebounds each and Jocelyn Fry added six assists.

Colfax 64, Franklin 44 at Folsom - The Falcons rallied to win the consolation title at the Folsom Invitational, jumping out to a 22-9 in the first quarter and cruising to victory on Saturday.

Courtney Harrison scored a game-high 18 points while Tyler Divine added 13 for Colfax (12-3). Lauren Maurer tossed in six points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Falcons.

On Friday, Colfax dropped Skyline of Oakland 67-47 as Divine scored 18 and Harrison added 13. Katie Cassilagio added 10 points and Harrison pulled down seven boards.

The Falcons fell to Granite Bay 59-51 in Thursday's opener despite 12 points and 10 boards from Maurer. Carlee Campbell, Divine and Harrison each scored 11 in the loss.

Placer 57, Los Banos 29 at Tracy - The Lady Hillmen capped the non-league slate with a blowout at the Tracy Lions Invitational.

Mandy Wagner dumped in 16 points and Shelby Madigan and Hannah Dobbas scored 11 points each. Madison Meade added six points as Placer improved to 10-4 on the season.

Sacramento Waldorf 50, Forest Lake 40 at Lincoln - The Falcons saw the Waves go on a 19-3 run in the second quarter and couldn't get back into the game, falling in the third place game at the Lincoln tournament.

Katie Fletcher scored 11 points while Kayla Campora and Lindsey Engbrecht added nine each as Forest Lake fell to 5-7 on the year.

On Friday, Forest Lake suffered a 35-28 defeat to River City despite Morgan Pomeroy's 10 points.
