Hillmen take non-league slugfest at James

The Placer High baseball team outlasted Bear Creek 15-14 Friday at James Field in an exciting non-league contest.

The Hillmen improved to 5-3 with the win. They will face Colfax on April 1 at home.

Golden Sierra 14, Lindhurst 4 at Garden Valley — The Grizzlies finished off the Blazers in five innings as sophomore Preston Thomas had a big day.

Thomas pitched four strong innings and knocked and slugged two home runs on the afternoon. He knocked in four runs and finished 4-for-4. Cole Frey was 2-for-3 with thee RBIs and Collin Burnett was 3-for-4. Brandon Burnett added a solo homer for Golden Sierra (2-1 Golden Empire League, 6-3 overall).
