Colfax residents Marty and Ray Vallero, owners of Vallero's Auto Repair and Machine Shop in Auburn, were the first people to use Colfax City Car Wash when it opened last weekend.

Owned by Brenda and Chris Toepfer, the automated car wash is located at 1001 So. Auburn Street (next to the Log Cabin).

The car wash has four coin-operated self-service bays as well as a touchless drive-through bay.

Cost for the automated wash will range from $5 to $9. The self-service bays are open 24 hours a day, indicated Brenda Toepfer.

Using a commercial car wash helps protect the groundwater, Topfer added. At least 85 percent of the water used at the sit will be recycled.

"Well water leaves spots on most cars, she said. "And most people have gravel driveways, so they end up tracking mud and everything into their homes."
