The Placer County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who hid in a women’s clothing rack at the Auburn Target store Thursday and broke into the pharmacy once the store closed.
At 12:06 a.m. Friday, the man made entry into the locked pharmacy area by cutting a metal gate, which then tripped the store’s alarm system, said Detective Jim Hudson of the Placer County Sheriff’s Department.
“He hid in the store for about an hour and a half,” Hudson said. “We are still conducting inventory to see if anything was taken — what we know is the alarm scared him away.”
The suspect did take the instrument used to break into the pharmacy from the store, Hudson said.
The suspect fled the store before deputies arrived on scene. The suspect is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has short brown hair and was wearing jeans, a black shirt and black hooded sweatshirt and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Placer County Sheriff’s Department at (530) 889-7800.
