Media Ignores Ron Paul March For Liberty
Thousands of people marched peacefully in Washington D.C. on Saturday, to honor Texas Congressman Ron Paul’s campaign for liberty, yet the mainstream media uniformly failed to issue a single written report on the event in its aftermath. The goal of the event was to organize a peaceful, non-violent march on the streets of Washington D.C. followed by a rally outside the Capitol building in support of restoring constitutional government as the founding fathers set forth. In light of this, the event was a resounding success, as it went off without a hitch and also saw thousands of dollars raised towards the Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty. In addition to Ron Paul’s keynote speech, audiences were addressed by Pastor Chuck Baldwin, author Naomi Klein, banking expert Edward G. Griffin, former head of the CIA’s Bin Laden unit Michael Scheuer and Iraq Veterans Against The War spokesman Adam Kokesh, amongst others. It is estimated that around 2500 people attended the rally. Some have expressed disappointment that there were not 15,000 plus at the event, given that number had pledged to attend on the campaign for liberty website. However, the day was extremely hot and many were seen camping out on the outskirts of the rally area in the shade. Some bloggers have suggested that as many as 8000 people in total attended the event. These numbers were seemingly not significant enough for the corporate controlled media to pay any attention to the event. A loan blog entry from the Chicago Tribune is about the sum of the written coverage the freedom rally attracted. Meanwhile, in what was clearly a gross distortion of the truth, CNN ran a short report which stated that Ron Paul addressed only 500 to 800 people. Yeah for Ron Paul. He is what this country needs as a leader. However, with the democratic senate and congress and their "good o' boys club" he wouldn't be allowed to fulfill his goals. Term limit reform is necessary to retire these lifers and with no retirements or benefits...I think it would behoove this country, in this financial crisis, to forfeit these outrageous benefits!!! As far as the liberal media goes, their days are numbered. Folks are waking up to their biased media views...soon there only audience will be the ignorant and uninformed.
It is said that the reason we pay our leaders is because we don't want a millionaire only to be able to afford to run and hold office. Doesn't seem to be working does it?
I still don't get why one would think the media is liberal. The only news sources I see that are truly slanted are Fox news and CNN.
Ron Paul would be a great leader in some respects. However, any shake up of the political system would include him.
Steve, thanks for bringing us attention to a otherwise sad commentary of the media. The crowd is definitely more than several thousand.
I am sorry that you do not see the media is liberal...could be that you are one?
As far as my comments about the benefits etc. I am referring to their RETIREMENT...that is after they leave their elected post. No way should they be paid full salary with benefits!!
It's very unfortunate how little attention the media gave to Ron Paul during his campaign. If he would have recieved as much attention as McPain, Obomba, Billary or even Ghouliani, I am certian he would be the republican nominee. Instead, the media enjoys paying attention to big government corporate candidates who vote on illegal issues such as the recent FISA bill and funding the war in Iraq.
The only good thing about Ron Paul is that he opposes this criminal war. Other than that, he would starve the poor, leave us with no health care, and take away the wages of our workers.
Placer_Democrat,
When will people with your mind set realize that it is not the federal government's responsibility to support such social programs? We need to take care of issues like this through local organization. Step one to solving many problems is abolishing the federal reserve and cutting the income tax, both are views of Ron Paul's.
