Obama, Bush - Sounding the Same?

Obama and Patraeus Fly over Bagdad Safely due to Surge Obama Opposed

In a recent interview with Katie Couric, Democrat candidate Barrack Hussein Obama acknowledges that the strategy of George W. Bush which included "The Surge" has been successful, and that troops will be required in Iraq until conditions on the ground justify their removal.

Couric: Having said that, if General Petraeus or the chairman of the joint chiefs, Admiral Mullen, say to you, "Hey, President Obama …"

Obama: Right.

Couric: …if that comes to pass, "you cannot take out the final complement of combat troops. You need them in the theater," you would say?

Obama: I will always listen to the commanders on the ground. And I will make an assessment based on the facts at that time. As I've said before … I am not interested in a false choice between either perfect inflexibility in which the next 16 months or the next two years I ignore anything that's happening in Iraq. Or, alternatively, that I just have an open-ended, indefinite occupation of Iraq in which we're not putting any pressure on the Iraqis to stand up and … take this burden on. What I'm gonna do is to set a vision of where we need to go, a clear and specific timeframe within which we're gonna pull our combat forces out.

But I am gonna continue to listen to the commanders on the ground as well as others who are gonna be working on diplomatic front, are gonna be dealing with the economy of Iraq, all of which are gonna contribute to the safety and security of the Iraqi people.

Couric: And base your decision still on conditions on the ground as well?

Obama: Well, as I said before … I would not be doing my job if I'm not paying attention to the facts.

---------

What?!?!?!? Listen to the commanders? Let the conditions in the theater drive the withdrawal?

What about the fact that Obama was in IRAQ holding interviews two years after he called for a complete withdrawal of our troops from Iraq? Had we followed his extremely naive advice, he would not be there now. It would be the new home of Al Qaida.

What are Obama's credentials?

Would it be a false choice to suggest that Bush wants to leave our troops in Iraq indefinitely???

Oooooh yes it would.

Bush has certainly directed Patraeus to get the job done as soon as possible, but will not direct him to finish by a given date. EXACTLY the position that Barrack (Cut-and-Run) Obama is now claiming as if he invented it.

What a pathetic loser!

Of course, the left will pretend they did not see this article. They want Obama because he will give them free health care, gay marriage, and all of the other nifty goals they have. They are not really anti-war, just anti-Republican.

Where are the Veterans for Surrender when Obama says he will increase troops in Afghanistan by 10,000 troops?

Where are the Veterans for Surrender when Obama says he will leave troops in Iraq as long as conditions demand it?

Hint: Staying at the Hotel Hypocrisy!!

Attention new visitors to the Auburn Journal online.

I recommend that you do not disagree with Rational_Thinker. You will soon find yourself in a bizarre alternate world where facts are fantasy and right is wrong.

Instead, simply post a note telling him he is the best thing since canned beer or sliced bread.

Without controversy he will wither and disappear. And that would be a very good thing.

Miuwtant; I accept your acknowledgement on this story.

So, it doesn't bother you that Obama has become a Hawk?

Rational_Thinker, Obama is well known for changing his position. When I tried searching for the word "flip flop" on the dictionary, I found Obama's picture on it... Just kidding! What bothers the most is that he made up his Iraqi policy before hearing from the military on the ground, or visit the country. Then, he changed his position as you stated on your article, which make you wonder if it is done for PR purpose during this trip. I heard that he has changed his position again after getting the pressure from the left wing (after your article).

This is for Miuwtant:

I am so thankful that we live in a country where we can express are opinions with out being jailed

or killed. Miuwtant if you feel that when a person expresses there opinion on something that they

should just disappear and that would be a good thing, you are a very scary thinker. People should always feel free in this country to express there opinions or this country becomes like so many

countries where you have no such freedom at all.

What a load, Miuwtant. I believe you were referring to yourself in your comment, not Rational_thinker.

Observe: No direct response by the leftists to Obama's Hawkish transition

What are Bush's credentials? What are McCain's credentials?
