Media Life: Etc. “New KCRA 3 anchor from Seattle starts Sept. 8”
There will be a new face in the 11 p.m. KCRA 3 news-anchor chair starting Sept. 8. He’s Gulstan Dart, who’s moving to Sacramento from Seattle’s KIRO 7, where he has anchored the weekday morning and noon newscasts since 2003. KCRA 3 News Director Anzio Williams cited Dart’s “exceptional range of experience as both an anchor and a reporter” as strengths he’ll bring to the high-profile post at the Sacramento area’s No. 1 newscast. Dart has won Emmy Awards for investigative reporting and writing, and AP awards for reporting and spot news coverage. Before joining KIRO, Dart anchored the 5 p.m. news for WSB in Atlanta. Prior to that, he spent three years with MSNBC as a news show host and news anchor. While at MSNBC, Dart also filled in as a newsreader on NBC’s weekend “Today Show” and contributed to NBC’s weekend “Nightly News.” With KCRA 3, Dart will anchor the weekday evening newscasts, including the 11 p.m. slot with Edie Lambert. A release from KCRA says Dart enjoys hiking, water sports, astronomy, reading biographies and spending time with his family – all at the same time (I kid on the latter). Dart is married with three children. Expect Dart to get out in the community. He served as 2006 honorary chairman of the Seattle March of Dimes Walkamerica and has helped raise funds for a variety of organizations in the Emerald City.
