Vivian Holabird of Rocklin, began Kylee?s Creations in remembrance of her daughter, Kylee. The company sells aromatherapy products such as body lotions, sprays, soaps and scrubs. Pictured here is Holabird surrounded by products and a framed photo of Kylee.

Kylee’s Creations is more than just a business for Vivian Holabird of Rocklin – it’s something she said she puts her whole heart into.

Named after her daughter, who died at the age of 3, Holabird began the endeavor, designing and selling lotions, body scrubs, foaming soap, body sprays and other aromatherapy products.

Holabird has a background in massage therapy and knows the scents that sooth and heal, she said.

“This is actually healing, so it’s a benefit for everyone.”

Products through her company stem from memories of Kylee: her lavender-infused baths, teddy bears and warm goat milk at bedtime. From those, Vivian developed goat milk- enriched soaps, lavender-scented products and Kylee’s Prayer Bears with lavender- infused stuffing. Vivian said the bears have special meaning because of her daughter’s nickname “Kylee bear” and proceeds from the Prayer Bears go toward Aim 4 Asia, a charity that helps stop the exploitation of young girls in Asia.

Each of the scents – lavender/ lemongrass, citrus, jasmine, peppermint/ lemon, eucalyptus/ lemon/ lemongrass and peppermint/ orange tangerine – were designed by Vivian. And in addition to the body products, she also carries cleaning products, which are a customer favorite.

Sherry A. Manchester of Rocklin is one customer who adores the products.

“I love her stuff,” she said. “The glass cleaner, that totally impressed me.”

Manchester said she likes the products not only because of the scents, but because they’re natural.

Granite Bay customer Lisa Hanlon agreed.

“I like that they’re natural, I feel safe using them.”

Hanlon said she’s been somewhat of a “tester” for Vivian.

“I love the lotion, handmade soaps. I use her salts constantly,” she said.

“I love her homemade scents,” Hanlon added, but admitted lemongrass is her favorite.

Although Kylee’s Creations began about five months ago, Vivian said she’s been making her own lotions since 1999 during her massage therapy business.

While toying with the idea of starting a company, Vivian read a book that advised her to tap into her intuition.

“Kylee brought out my femininity,” Vivian said she remembered thinking.

The company also combines Vivian’s passion for aromatherapy and gift giving, with “kits” that include a gift box full of products and KareKards art by Karen Salee.

Vivian said she hopes her business will become a legacy for her son and help the family remember Kylee.

Even with the tragedies that resulted from Kylee’s death – Vivian’s mother-in-law died the same day of a heart attack after hearing news of her granddaughter – good things have resulted. Vivian and her husband were going through a divorce at the time, but worked through it and saved their marriage.

Vivian calls her business “a God thing” because of the events that led up to it and says it’s been somewhat therapeutic.

“This is really healing to me. I have more in this than any other job I’ve ever done,” she said.
