There are only a few days left to cast your vote for the Auburn Journal's October Athlete of the Month. There are three worthy candidates - all of whom helped their respective teams make the postseason. Two of the three are still competing.

Lucas Stancliff will lead the Placer cross country team into the Sac-Joaquin Section championships Saturday in Folsom after helping the Hillmen claim the sub-section crown last week.

Jamie Russell has sparked an upstart Del Oro volleyball team. The Eagles stunned second-seeded Pioneer last night in Woodland to earn a trip to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III semifinals. Placer is there too.

Aaron Schindler's season ended last week, but not before he led the Colfax soccer team to the playoffs.
