The following awards were presented at the Colfax Elementary School District commencement ceremonies on May 24. Information was provided in a news release from the school district.
The American Legion Award for academic excellence and leadership went to Nick Goldsmith and Faith Bangert.
The recipients of the Gold Country Lioness Awards for community service were Robert Nevarez and Jerica Jay.
Jordan Allen was the recipient of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary Award for citizenship, diligence and application to duties.
The Student Government Leadership Awards sponsored by the Colfax City Council were presented to Savannah Sheets and Julie Tricoli.
The Scholar Athlete Awards went to Blake Johnston and Sequoia Moore.
Wyatt Graves and Sequoia Moore received the Zoe’ Kreizenbeck Memorial Scholarships as ideal members of the school community.
The Soroptimist International of Colfax Award for scholarship, leadership, and community service was presented to Julie Tricoli.
The Association of Parents and Teachers Awards for excellence in the arts went to Elijah McKee.
The Kiwanis Club of Auburn Award for excellent citizenship, scholarship, leadership, ethics, and high moral character went to Jerica Jay.
Bryce McReynolds received the Principal’s Award for achievement while overcoming obstacles.
Savannah Sheets received the Superintendent Award for excellence and achievement above and beyond the classroom.
The recipient of the Lions Club International of Colfax Math and Science Award was Claire Skillen.
The Lions Club International of Colfax Award for the highest grade point average over four years went to Aiden McReynolds.
Each year, the President of the United States recognizes graduates with the President’s Award for educational excellence. To qualify for this award, a student must have attained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher over four years. In addition, a student must score advanced in math or
reading on recent standardized testing or receive the recommendation of their teacher and one other staff member.

Wyatt Graves, Jerica Jay, Blake Johnston, Austin Powell, Madison Preston, Savannah Sheets, Julie Tricoli, Ethan Vicari, Bryce Mcreynolds, Alden Mcreynolds, Sequoia Moore and Claire Skillen.
Graduates who attend Colfax Elementary School District continuously from kindergarten through eighth grade are recognized at graduation as “Survivors.” The Survivors in the class of 2018 are: Scarlet Everhart, Nick Goldsmith, Wyatt Graves, Caleb Howard, Jerica Jay, Robert Nevarez, Austin Powell, Madison Preston, Gabriel Russell, Savannah Sheets, Claire Skillen, Jimmy Smith and Julie Tricoli.
