Detectives tight-lipped on Georgetown shooting report
A shooting in Georgetown has resulted in a call for the public's help in locating what the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office is describing as a "person of interest" in the investigation.
The Sheriff's Office has issued a statement saying only that it responded to the community of Georgetown, 19 miles east of Auburn, for a "report of a shooting."
"This is an active and ongoing investigation with Sheriff's Office detectives and we need your help," a release El Dorado County law enforcement stated.
The report of a shooting came in Tuesday morning from Georgetown and a bare-bones report was released Wednesday.
Not included in the Sheriff's Office report was who may have been shot and what, if any, injuries occurred. Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Anthony Prencipe said today that no further information is being released during an ongoing investigation.
Detectives are seeking Jacob Louis Sota - the person of interest. He is described as 20, 6-foot-1-inch tall, 220 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
If someone sees someone they believe to be Sota or have information on where he is, they are being asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (530) 621-6600, extension 1379
