The founder of the Methodist Church, “John Wesley,” will be preaching at the Colfax Methodist Church this Sunday, Sept. 9, just as circuit riding preachers did 150 years ago.
Retired Pastor Don Baldwin, also known as Pastor John Wesley, will be providing the congregation with a message for the church’s weekly service.
In order to relive those early days, the Colfax United Methodist Church congregation and community are encouraged to meet together on the side lawn on Culver Street at 9:10 a.m. and witness a “circuit rider” (Rick Andrus) as he rides into Colfax to deliver the worship bulletins for the 9:30 a.m. worship service. This service is especially planned for the community to attend and join the congregation for this special 150th anniversary celebratory worship.
A large cake will be served for after-worship refreshments. Congregants and guests are advised to plan on arriving early. Friends to welcome to attend both the circuit rider and Pastor John Wesley presentations. It will be a memorable service.
