The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet is hosting a food drive on Saturday, Sept. 15 and 22. Volunteers are needed to distribute empty grocery bags to be placed on the doorsteps of homes in the Auburn area and then picked up filled bags in the same neighborhoods on the next Saturday, the 22nd. Nonperishable food is needed particularly canned or boxed soup, peanut butter and diced tomatoes, and canned meat such as tuna and chicken.
The community is urged to donate to help others during this month. They can also donate money to the AIF Food Closet or sponsor a family ($20-$30 per month). The Auburn Food Closet provides food to an average of over 700 families every month.
The food closet is planning to distribute 7,000 bags to be filled this year. It goes without saying that this is going to be a lot of work, so many volunteers are needed.
