One of two great fall activities were underway Saturday in Auburn. The annual Auburn Community Harvest Festival and for the eighth year Machado Orchards opened their farm for their annual Apple Festival. Featuring their 15 varieties of apples, fresh squeezed apple juice and their delicious apple pies the festival began at 9 a.m. at their Bowman location.
“In our eighth year, it’s a great turnout, we will probably sell 12 tons of apples today,” said organizer Shawnie Machado. “The pink ladies are the most popular.”
Sell apples they did. Large bin of apples were placed in the parking lot as hundreds apple lovers loaded boxes and bags to take home. Many people also left Machado’s with delicious homemade pies which were also popular. Music, food and vendor craft boots lined Apple Lane during the festival.
