"It's an event that the community looks forward to, to see friends and see what has developed with the library," said Hall Overton. Guests sat at tables spread through nearly every corner of the library--from young adult to periodicals. Among rows of books, Jeannette Duff, a past chairperson with Friends of the Library, and Juanita Garcia chat over wine and appetizers. "It's fun that our librarian let's us do this," said Duff. "It's kind of a unique thing." Don and Susan Rushton have attended the event for the past four years. President of the Meadow Vista Friends of the Library George Lay has been attending the dinner since it's inception. "It's a nice function," said Lay. While the rest of their table is getting appetizers, Gary Elnan of Sacramento and Doris Feenstra of Auburn enjoy a moment together. "I'm glad I came," said Elnan, who came for the first time to the event with Feenstra, who has attended for several years. "It's sweet. This is an incredible little gathering." Meadow Vista resident Barbara Tellman chats with retired librarian Maxine Babel, of Auburn. Surrounded by books of every author and subject, guests enjoyed food and wine during the annual We Love the Library Dinner at the Auburn Placer County Library on Sunday.
