School house, circa 1889-1893
This is a second photograph of the teacher and students published Feb. 6. The first photograph captured the interior of the school house while this photograph shows the exterior of the building itself.
We received two responses to our query for the interior photograph: Where was the photograph taken? One person thought it was a school house in Ophir while another thought it was the original Dutch Flat school house.
The building itself is very similar to other school houses of the 19th century so determining which school house it is will require detailed analysis. In our collection, we have yet to find any other school house with the exact features as this one.
