Calling all trivia buffs

-A +A

Head’s up, trivia addicts: The Auburn Branch of AAUW announces its eighth annual Trivia Bee March 30.

Twenty teams of three will compete to see who knows the most about this year’s theme: Grub and Grog — in other words, food and drink.

Last year’s winners, Jennifer Montgomery, Jim Holmes and Mike Holmes — Placer United — will defend their trophy in this typically raucous evening.

A fundraiser for AAUW’s scholarship program for local women and girls, the Trivia Bee “has become one of the premier events in this area over the past few years,” Mike Holmes said. “The competition is keen and sometimes tension ridden as teams try to keep track of how other teams are doing.”

The bee will take place at 5:30 p.m. March 30  at the Congregational Church, 710 Auburn Ravine Road.

The price for tickets is $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Admission includes dinner by Laura Kenny Real Food Catering, a no-host bar and a silent auction/raffle. Tickets are available online (auburn-ca.aauw.net), at both Roper’s Jewelers and Sun River Clothing in Old Town.

Teams of three pay for the privilege of entertaining the audience: $180 for three players, which includes dinner, a drink ticket and TLC. Winners will get to compete for free next year.
