Along with the bags of food, Thanksgiving dinner fixings will be included with the next United Way Food Access Saturday.
The food program was originally created to help working individuals and families who need help putting food on their table. United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry distributes food on the second Saturday of each month.
Food Access Saturday began May 2017, and so far over 2,950 bags of food have been distributed to more than 1,340 individuals and families, a press release from United Way said. Since its inception, the program has grown to encompass a larger population; welcoming others to the table. Through the Food Access Saturday program, anyone who needs food can pick up healthy groceries, including fresh produce. The program is open to all Nevada County residents.
The distribution takes place from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 10 at 440 Henderson St., in Grass Valley. For more information, contact United Way at 530-274-8111 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
