The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation made its All-Sac-Joaquin Section football picks for the 2018 season with local talent littered throughout the lists.

Placer’s bookend tackles Joey Capra and Blake Baughman were named as First-Team offensive linemen. According to Maxpreps, Capra and Baughman led a Placer offensive line that allowed just three quarterback sacks all season.

Baughman is headed to play at the University of Nevada, Reno. Capra, who originally chose Arizona State University, reconsidered to attend the University of Oregon, where his brother Jacob played. Capra recently decommitted from Oregon.

Foothill Valley League Most Valuable Player Cameron Skattebo was also named the Section’s Offensive MVP. He was one of just nine players in the country to rush for over 3,000 yards this season. Only a junior, Skattebo led Rio Linda to the schools first ever state championship game.

Adding to the FVL pedigree was Lincoln’s Harry Rounds (First-Team wide receiver), Nevada Union’s Dawson Fay (honorable mention all-purpose) and Rio Linda’s Nicolas Salaices (honorable mention offensive line) and Abraham Banks (honorable mention all-purpose).

Folsom’s Kaiden Bennett was named the Section’s Player of the Year. In his two years as the Bulldogs’ quarterback, Bennett has led Folsom to a 30-1 record heading into this weekend’s state championship game in Norwalk.

Bennett, who committed to Boise State earlier this season, had 62 touchdown passes and eclipsed the 4,000-yard passing mark Friday when the Bulldogs secured their second straight state title and fourth this decade against Cathedral Catholic of San Diego.

The Bulldogs had many other representatives, including First-Team lineman Kaden Richardson, receiver Joe Ngata, running back Daniyel Ngata, defensive lineman Tyler Hardeman and linebacker Dylan Jorge.

Offensive lineman David Ruiz and receiver Elijhah Badger were named to honorable mention for the Bulldogs.

Del Oro defensive lineman Tatuo Martinson was a First-Team selection while Dawson Hurst and Dante Pericin were honorable mention defensive backs for the state runner-up Golden Eagles.

Colfax, who host its first ever state championship Saturday night against San Diego High, landed wide receiver Jake Green on the first team offense and quarterback Alex Weir and linebacker Tucker Klopotek on honorable mention.

Green set the school’s single-game record for receiving yards (284) Sept. 7 against Colusa, catching six passes from Weir, who as of Friday, was tied for third on Colfax’s single-season touchdown passes list with 38. Klopotek was named the Pioneer Valley League’s Defensive MVP.

The overall Defensive MVP for the Section was Laiatu Latu of Jesuit.
