Eleven Placer County wineries brought home a total of 57 medals in the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition in January.
Facing competition from 6,960 entries spanning the United States, Placer County wines earned a Best of Class, one Double Gold, nine Gold, 27 Silver and 19 Bronze medals.
“We are very proud of our Placer County vintners,” Placer County Agricultural Commissioner Josh Huntsinger said in a press release. “Wine grapes have been in Placer County since 1848. Our wineries have proved they can hold their own against the more famous California regions, and it’s all minutes away from our homes. These accolades are well deserved!”
The winning entries include:
Bear River Winery – two silver, one bronze
Bonitata Boutique Wine – one gold, one silver, two bronze
Cante Ao Vino – one silver
Ciotti – one silver, two bronze
Fawnridge – three silver, one bronze
Le Casque – one Best of Class, one double gold, two gold, two silver
Lone Buffalo – two silver, two bronze
Mt. Vernon – four silver, one bronze
Popie Wines – one gold, two silver, one bronze
Secret Ravine – two silver, one bronze
Wise Villa Winery – five gold, seven silver
