Meet endorsed candidate for District 4, Jessica MorseBy: Staff report
Jessica Morse, a fifth-generation Northern Californian, was endorsed as the only Democratic candidate for District 4 at the recent California Democratic Party State Convention. She has raised more than $294,000 for the fourth quarter of 2017 — more than Congressman Tom McClintock’s $216,000 total. Her totals have been larger than all the cash raised by McClintock opponents in each of the three prior elections.
At 36, Morse grew up in Carmichael and earned a master’s from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton. She spent more than a year in Iraq with the U.S. Agency for International Development, worked for the State Department in Washington, D.C., and spent more than a decade with the U.S. Pacific Command on U.S. and India defense strategies. She moved back to California several years ago and now lives in Pollock Pines.
Voices of the Blue Wave, the April Auburn Area Democratic Club’s monthly Topics of Community Interest will host Morse on April 5. The evening’s topics will also include Medicare for All, foreign policy, education, and environmental protection. The presentation will be held at the General Gomez Arts and Event Center, at 808 Lincoln Way in Auburn. Free and open to the public, doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the lecture begins at 7 p.m.
