Two injured in Interstate 80 crashBy: Gus Thomson, Reporter/Columnist
A Bay Area man and woman were injured in a crash on Interstate 80 today after the SUV they were in and a 25-foot-long travel trailer being towed left the freeway at the Bell Road overcrossing in the Bowman area north of Auburn.
The SUV and trailer both came to rest on their rooftops after a wild detour off the interstate into the dirt and dry grass on the northern side of the overcrossing. The two occupants of the SUV were removed by emergency personnel from the flipped vehicle and taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
A California Highway Patrol officer at the scene said that the two suffered moderate injuries in the crash, which took place at about noon on eastbound I-80. The trailer reportedly started fish-tailing uncontrollably moments before the SUV and its trailer left the road, he said.
