Anderson Family Bluegrass presents free concert

-A +A

PlacerArts’ 2012 Summer Series concert season continues with Anderson Family Bluegrass at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 8. The Library Garden Theater, 350 Nevada St., Auburn, is the venue for this popular free concert series, celebrating its 24th season.

The Anderson family, from Grass Valley, has been a popular crowd-pleasing Northern California bluegrass band since their start in early 2005. Mark and Christy Anderson and their four kids, Paige, Aimee, Ethan and Daisy, are making new friends and fans every day with their combination of lead and harmony singing, instrumental abilities, savvy stagecraft and boundless energy and charisma. From the annual California Bluegrass Association’s Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival in Grass Valley to the International Bluegrass Music Association convention in Nashville, the Anderson family has won over audiences nationwide with a traditional bluegrass sound and a fresh, modern approach.

The band’s most recent CD, “Live from Grass Valley,” was released in 2011. For information, visit www.andersonfamilybluegrass.com.

Bring low-backed chairs, blankets and picnics for an evening of music in the outdoor theater. No refreshments available. A host of sponsors and community volunteers makes this concert series possible. The Sugar Plump Fairies are the sponsors of the July 8 concert.

The final performance of the 2012 season features Todd Morgan and the Emblems on July 15. For upcoming program details, visit www.placerarts.org/programs/summer-series.
