Animal rescue groups came through

It is with great pride and gratitude that I write this letter in regards to Placer County Animal Service’s and its partnering groups’ outstanding response to the 49 Fire. The skill, compassion and readiness shown by our Placer County Animal Response Team (CART), Noah’s Wish and the volunteers of A New Hope helped to find animals affected by the fire and get them to safety at the Auburn shelter. Other partnering support groups provided temporary foster care for the adoptable animals to make room for the animal victims of the fire. Many thanks to Shana with Greyhound Friends for Life for temporarily housing our adoptable dogs at their shelter. Thanks to Fieldhaven for helping with the cats as well as AAARF and Angels Rescuing Kritters (who also supported A New Hope at the animal shelter). And many thanks to A New Hope volunteers for taking in the remainder of the adoptable animals and for their extremely hard work in managing the shelter while our county staff and CART team were out in the field in active rescue. Many thanks to all the groups involved. And many thanks to the wonderful community members who have offered their services and properties for future foster care.
