Anna Brocker shared love of music with generations of Auburnites

Auburn’s Anna Brocker, who shared her joy of music with generations, died Oct. 21 at age 84. “Mrs. Brocker” is a name familiar to many children and families throughout the Auburn area. She played piano and autoharp at Bell’s Preschool in Auburn most Tuesdays for 26 years, touching the hearts and ears of more than 2,000 children. With her daughter, Lorrie Brocker Bell, she initiated programs with music involving the preschool children and residents at local convalescent homes. Anna Brocker also played music at Rock Creek School, brought puppetry to Placer High School and to the GATE program at Alta Vista Elementary School. She also taught voice and piano lessons locally for four decades. She is preceded in death earlier this year by her husband of 60 years, Paul. She is survived by her children; Steve Brocker, Paul Brocker III, Lorrie Brocker Bell and Danny Brocker. Anna is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and her brothers; Gary and Jim Brockway.
