Assistance League of Greater Placer is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that has been helping people in need in this community for more than 20 years. Last year, 263 members donated 42,214 service hours to support 14 philanthropic programs that served more than 13,000 children and adults. Funds to support these programs are raised through a thrift shop in Auburn, grants, fundraisers and donations.
The Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to attend a community college or trade school to students in Placer County in alternative education programs. The chapter awarded 10 scholarships in amounts of $500, $700 and $900 for a total of $8,000 to seven graduating students from Adelante High School and three from Chana High School, who plan to attend Sierra College in Rocklin and American River College in Sacramento. In addition, the Scholarship Program will continue to support returning students who received scholarships in previous years.
