Auburn Little League’s Junior All-Star softball team rallied from a five-run deficit to send its winner’s-bracket game into extra innings Monday night before falling short in a 10-9 Division 2 Tournament loss to Paradise in Chico. Auburn trailed 8-3 early before Haley Tupen’s two-run homer during a three-run bottom of the seventh knotted the score. Auburn failed to score the wining run from third with one out in the seventh inning and also stranded two runners in the decisive eighth. Hailey Leggitt singled twice and scored two runs. Kassidy Kosmata finished with three hits, while Tupen tripled and singled to compliment her homer. Pitcher Sadie Stroup struck out four in seven innings. Auburn falls to the loser’s bracket for a game against the winner of a contest between Dixon and Stockton tonight at 7. The winner of that game will play Paradise again Wednesday in the double-elimination tournament.
