Auburn open burning period begins

-A +A
The city of Auburn is allowing open burning starting Wednesday. According to Auburn Fire Chief Mark D’Ambrogi, the burn period will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday and close May 31. Residents must have a valid burn permit and only burn on days designated by the California Air Resources Board and Placer County Air Pollution Control District. D’Ambrogi said the fire department works closely with the Placer County Agency to make sure burn regulations are followed and residents interested in finding out more information or burn day status can call (530) 889-6868. D’Ambrogi said residents should listen to the entire recorded message should any last minute changes be made. Those living outside the city limits should contact their local fire agencies for burn day information, D’Ambrogi said. D’Ambrogi said although the burning ban has been lifted throughout Placer County, local agencies still encourage residents to use safe practices while burning. He said the burn period could be suspended at any time if a fire danger is declared or a burn ban is put into effect. ~Staff report ----------------------------------------------------- Requirements for open burning in the city of Auburn • Only dried vegetation may be burned.
