Auburn parolee arrested for alleged prowling

An alleged Auburn prowler was still behind bars Friday afternoon after a Terracina Oaks Apartments resident reported the man was peering into his bedroom window. Steven Allen Shade, 43, allegedly entered the area behind the apartments through a damaged piece of fencing and was looking in the man’s window at 5:50 Friday morning, according to Dena Erwin, spokeswoman for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. When a deputy arrived Shade allegedly ran up a hill behind the complex and along the canal. The deputy used his Taser to stop Shade in a field after the man allegedly refused to stop, while continuously reaching into his pocket, Erwin said. Shade, a parolee, was then transferred to the hospital for removal of the Taser barbs, which is Sheriff’s Office policy, Erwin said. The Sheriff’s Office booked Shade on charges of resisting arrest and prowling, both misdemeanors. The alleged offenses are also a violation of Shade’s parole, Erwin said. As of Friday afternoon Shade was in custody in Placer County Jail and was ineligible for bail due to the parole violation. ~Staff report
