The Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club will hold a fundraiser this week for a Placer High School student injured in a recent rollover accident.

The event will be on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club at 1255 Racquet Club Drive in Auburn.

The club will take cash donations or checks made out to Matthew Carducci, the father of Andrew Carducci. The event will feature racquetball retailer Gearbox and attendees can demo new racquets and win door prizes.

Andrew is a member of the Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club and plays varsity tennis and soccer at Placer High. There is no cost to go to the event for club members, though donations will be accepted. Non-members must pay $15 to go to the event, but that can be waived in lieu of a donation.

Andrew was in a rollover accident with seven other Placer High students in September. He was partially ejected when the car rolled over on Interstate 80 and was flown via Calstar to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Andrew is now home and undergoing physical therapy. All donations received at the Gearbox event will go toward hospital and continued care costs.
