Battle of Badges to raise money for Salvation Army

-A +A
Local law enforcement will battle to collect the most money for the Salvation Army today. The annual Battle of the Badges competition among the Auburn California Highway Patrol office, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the Auburn Police Department will take place 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Raley’s Bel Air and SaveMart parking lots in Auburn. Battle of the Badges is one of the Auburn Salvation Army’s largest fundraising events for its Red Kettle Campaign, said Ken Tokutomi, Salvation Army of Auburn chairman of the board. Last year’s effort raised more than $5,400 in one day, Tokutomi said. If interested in volunteering for a two-hour bell ringing shift, call Heather Wolfe at (530) 889-3930 ext. 13. ~ Staff report
